Today, the video I’ve been working on last summer (mostly after-work and weekends) is finally being released…

Supposed to be an unofficial music video for the song “Paper Doll” from the album Split the Atom by Noisia

I contacted the band to get their approval/input on my creation… and they actually offered me to make it part of the release of their Special Edition album:D

You can imagine how psyched I was…

The whole thing started as I was taking a break on Franky… it turned out to be a pretty long break actually…

Also, Noisia actually asked me to do another one for them… the following track to be precise : “Dystopia”…

I’ve started working on it… but I think I may have looked a bit too big… haha

Anyway… here’s the video. I’m trying to get maximum exposure on it so don’t hesitate to share ^^

Hey fellows,

I’m having a lot of fun these days with mel scripting…
Even started writing a couple of “big” scripts to be used as is, that I will probably post on creativecrash.com

Want to know more?

“Hell Yeah”

Okay then!
(fyi, this is meant to be funny and not pathetic at all)

I’m actually working on 3 scripts :

3DCameraANDnulls_to_AE.mel
pretty self-explanatory… I just want to automatize this in the very way I’m doing it manually.

CleanScene.mel
this script will bake anything in your scene (anim, dynamics & ndynamics, particles, fluids, etc) so it can be rendered anywhere.

the_Playblaster.mel
this little guy will create a new renderLayer and replace all your assigned shaders (MS, MR or VR) with a new “playblast-friendly” shader trying to imitate the look of his parent (color, specularity, transparency).

Cool, right? I know it’s still pretty basic… but that will help a lot to save time. Or at least mine :P

Again… getting into the geeky talking… how can I forget to mention this…

I’ve released the version 2.7 of my ABCshelf for 2012

Lots of changes… I really need to make that video tutorial thing…

UPDATES in version 2.7
- created a new button to toggle the resolution settings
- added RopeSwing, Particle Setup and Kill VolumeField
- reorganized the CreateDYNA menu
- added the tensionBS deformer
- added the Custom Script Editor
- added the SanctusMatchCamera script to Cam right-click
- added shortcut to projectWin with right click
- created a new right-click menu button for modeling tools
(facer, randomize transf, array dupl, fit geo & axcrack)
- added a BatchRender button

Also, I’ve finally posted it to CreativeCrash, so you can also get it from here now.

In the future (version 3.0? ^^), I’d like to automate the update… I’m starting to look into that… Might have to go python for this though (cf Sunday Pipeline installation awesomeness).

More awesomeness soon… until then, spread the love.

I know… amazing bear imitation.

So it finally happened ! The weather was okay (a bit cold but I’m supposed to be a Viking so…) but the people was here. all excited.

No more blabla. Here it is.

We documented the whole event with the 5D of loyalKaspar. ^^

Everything was shot / edited / color corrected by Valere and I.

Also, here is the “raw” version of our animation, the actual video they projected on the building.

Wow… so many things happened in one month…

I’ve been insanely busy at LK… but mellow times are back, now that I’ve finished the intro for this video.

The rest of the animation (AE & C4D) is entirely made by Naomie Ross with a little help from the majestic Dennis. Creative direction by Daniel Dörnemann.

But this is actually not the final version… we’ll have a “director’s cut”… meaning that I need to re-work the outro :P

Waiting for this to be out, there is another project that I wrapped up recently.

I made the promo videos for a new French webTV show about live music : BAND . Nothing crazy, but it was small enough to have real fun doing it. Have a look.

The whole thing was made over 3 weekends (concept/design, animation, tool-kiting) and was delivered as a AE toolkit. Meaning that by changing just a few parameters in the AEP file, the client was able to generate a different promo for each show.

Getting into some geeky talk, I should also mention that I’ve released the version 2.6 of my ABCshelf for Maya : get it here.

A couple of changes here and there…

UPDATES in version 2.6
- replaced Shotview by custom playblast script
- added 2 different Rivet tools
- added the Rope generator
- added rivet tools
- added displaceD for Maya2012
- extended the limits of the Pipe generator script
- added the SDF shader
- added the UVZ shader
- fixed bugs in StereoreoShelf
- fixed a couple of minor bugs

Remember, you can find all the versions and their respective documentations in the Tools page, in the top-right menu.

Finally, a couple of random news :D

- FRANKY is officially in production. The animatic v2 is out, I have (almost) all my shots locked and I’m starting to push renders out (first two shots are rendered, comped, “done”). Soon I’ll show stuff.

- 8BITS has won two awards in 2 weeks : “Best Animation Short” award at the Maverick Movie Awards 2011 and “Best Film, Animation Shorts” award at the Ventura Film Festival. Always feels good to brag.

- ELECTRIC PROJECTED has been successfully rebooted and it’s happening THIS SATURDAY (10/01). So please, join us at Beacon, NY to enjoy this wonderful event miraculously surviving. Hell yeah!

A promise is a promise.

I come back to you, in these glorious days (it’s raining in NY…), all proud because of what I’m about to reveal to you (whereas it’s really really geeky…)

Finally finished, the notepad still warm… here’s my new ultimate shelf for Maya : the ABCshelf v2.5

ahem… voila, I hope it’s going to please the three losers who are reading me and who, I’m sure, didn’t even open Maya in the last two weeks (yes, they’ll know I’m talking abouth them).

Bonus track, you’ll also get my shelf STEREOREO (called after my crazy stereoscopy/oreos phase, true story).

For this one, I need to specify that it is just a beta /!\ and that I encourage the people of the world to unify in peace and joy, to work together and to make this shelf greater.

For the curious ones, who are too lazy to unzip the shit, you can see the doc here.

Finally, I’ve created a new page : “Tools” (top right of the page), where I’m going to start to post and update my stuff. :D

Juste parce que j’adore les Jawas.
